Set the terrain to swamp and the role to ambusher, and see what crawls out.
👹 Roll a monsterWhich creature tool do I need?
- A whole new species with body, habitat, behaviour and life cycle: the Species & Creature Generator.
- A monster for tonight's game, with a ready stat block at the right challenge: the Random Monster Generator.
- A stat block you can edit and print: the 5e Stat Block Maker does the maths for you.
From idea to table in three steps
- Imagine it. The species generator gives you a full field-guide entry: body plan, habitat, senses, diet, behaviour and threats. Lock what you like and re-roll the rest.
- Make it fight. One click turns a species into a 5e stat block, or roll a monster straight away at the challenge rating your party needs.
- Polish it. Open the stat block in the maker to change anything. Hit points, attack bonuses and save DCs update as you type, and our CR estimate warns you if the numbers drift.
Tips for better monsters
- Give it a want. A monster that is hungry, guarding its young or fleeing something worse is far more interesting than one that just attacks.
- Mix roles. A brute in front and an artillery monster behind makes even an easy fight feel clever.
- Show it before the fight. Tracks, smells, a half-eaten meal: the generators give you looks and behaviour for exactly this.
Creatures you make can move between tools, and everything is saved only in your browser, ready to export.
