Fact: a 3-year-old dragonborn
A 3-year-old dragonborn is like a 10-year-old human. Dragonborn grow up fast and are adults by 15.
🧮 Convert an ageWhat these calculators do
- Age calculator: converts ages between races using life stages, not a single ratio, so a 100-year-old elf is a young adult, as the free rules describe. It also shows a timeline, the same age in every race, and keeps your party's ages in your world's calendar.
- Height & weight calculator: rolls a fitting height and weight for any race, gives a weight for any height you type, and lines your party up on a size chart next to a human and a door.
Where the numbers come from
For the races in the free D&D rules (the SRD), we use the ages and sizes given there, and say so next to every result. For other fantasy races, such as goblins, centaurs and treefolk, we set our own defaults and label them "our default". The maths (life-stage ages, the height curve, the build-based weight) is our own method, written for this site. We never copy the tables printed in rulebooks.
Why life stages matter
Dividing an elf's age by about eight sounds simple, but it makes every young elf a child. Real fantasy races grow up at different speeds and stay adults for very different lengths of time. Lining up the big moments (grown, adult, a long life) gives answers that fit the stories: an elf of 100 starting out, a dwarf of 50 finally counted as an adult, a gnome of 200 in the busy middle of life.
All calculators work in your browser, even offline once you have opened them. The height and weight calculator works in feet and pounds or centimetres and kilograms.
